European Trend Analysis

Due to the cross-cultural character of the study it is also possible to analyze the characteristics of professional communication culture in each individual country against the background of general trends that transcend the horizon of national borders. Thereby, we also want to contribute to an empirically firm data base providing a basis in the long run for a differentiated evaluation of the role journalists and PR-Managers play in forming a European public.

We are convinced that a longer-term and Europe-wide observation of the development of these two important communication professions opens up new perspectives for an empirically sound and comparative cross-country research on professional roles which so far has not existed in this form.

Therefore, we plan a continuation of our study and an expansion to other countries. With the current first survey wave in 2009 in several European countries, the foundation for a long-term monitoring of the communicative professions journalism and Public Relations in Europe shall be laid.

We are very pleased about the interest of our colleagues from who have so far joined our project union.
